Today I finished a second painting using the gloss gel technique taught by Cheng Khee Chee. This was entirely on my own and I forgot one important step. After you apply the gel to the illustration board Cheng Khee blots the wet gel with a damp sponge to flatten and smooth out the brush marks in the gel. This gives you nicer texture. Anyway I am happy with this painting. I always struggle with realistic paintings but I feel like I am learning and improving. Hope your team won today. Go Colts!

I think I like this one the best, Linda. You really get a sense of the falling water.

Very successful, especially for an ‘exercise’. It’s nice to see all of your recent work.

Wow, Linda, this is gorgeous! I attended the same workshop in Minnesota but did not have nearly the same results as you have–this is really lovely! The mountains in the background are especially nice in unifying the composition and adding another layer of depth and soft color. Thanks for stopping by–I’m so glad to discover your blog and look forward to seeing more paintings!

    • Thank you nancy. I appreciate your visit. By the way, I am a docent at the Indianapolis Museum Of Art and was lucky enough to be able to spend a day with Cheng Khee Chee and his wife Sing-Bee at the museum. What lovely people. And his art! Oh my!!!!
