This is my final collage using B&W and the gray scale papers, at least for now. I am hungry for color. Now about this collage, I must be honest. This was inspired by a Matisse painting hanging behind Charlie Rose on his show yesterday. He was interviewing the Curators of a Matisse show that just opened at MOMA (I think that’s right!? Or was it the Met?) I simplified and removed color. Half copy, Half mine.
The brownish color is actually where the paper rippled slightly. I don’t know why my new camera sees this as brown. Another mystery to solve…

I’m really enjoying the process of your collages – each one is interesting to look at. What is the name of this book you are using? It seems to have some intriguing approaches! Thanks.
Naomi
Hi Naomi, The book is Master Class in Watercolor by Edward Betts. It was written in the late ’70′s. He painted traditional watercolors and abstracts in acrylics and mixed media. Much of the content could be used by anyone.
Thanks!
